Inside the craftsmanship of our most treasured MESHKI Atelier pieces.

Within our latest collection, The Nile, there are a curation of designs that are handcrafted and made with exquisite detail and materials — aptly named our ‘MESHKI Atelier’ pieces.

Each style is designed here in Sydney and meticulously crafted by our team in India. These treasures are easy to spot, but the story behind their creation is one we’re sharing exclusively with you, our readers.

We sat down with our MESHKI Atelier designers, Tarek and Magenta, to uncover how their creative vision came to life.

What was the inspiration and concept behind The Nile Atelier styles?

Tarek: The Nile Atelier pieces were first inspired by the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, where I was captivated by the jewellery of Ancient Egypt. The gold, opulence, and craftsmanship of that era felt both timeless and powerful, and I wanted to channel that energy into a modern context.

From the initial sketches, I played with the idea of translating those rich textures and regal details into wearable pieces that still felt contemporary and bold. The designs evolved into something that celebrates history while speaking to today’s woman — luxurious, confident, and ready for a party season that carries the same spirit of grandeur.

Take us through the process and the craftsmanship.

Tarek: We worked with rich metallic fabrics and jewel-like finishes that could echo the brilliance of Ancient Egyptian adornment while still feeling modern. The techniques centered around layering mesh with shimmer, structured draping, and carefully placed embellishments designed to catch the light and move with the body almost like wearing living jewellery.

One of the biggest challenges in the process was striking the right balance between opulence and wearability. Ultimately, I see the balance of function and artistry as inseparable: the historical references, shimmer, and sculptural details bring the artistic expression, while the fit, comfort, and confidence they offer ground the pieces in function. Together, they create garments that are bold, luxurious, and alive on the wearer.

What story do these particular designs tell & how do these styles sit with your personal design philosophy?

Tarek: We wanted the pieces to tell a story of confidence and celebration. They’re designed to make the wearer feel powerful and radiant, echoing the timeless allure of Ancient Egypt while speaking to a modern audience. The collection reflects the design philosophy I like of blending historical references with contemporary silhouettes — always aiming for pieces that feel bold yet wearable.

If I had to describe it as a moment in time, it would be a golden evening on the Nile, where light, movement, and atmosphere come together in a way that feels both opulent and unforgettable.

What are the emotions or experiences you hope people feel with they wear a piece of this collection?

Magenta: This range is very much a party focused collection enticing the customer with rich colours, textured and elevated fabrications, and construction techniques. I am hoping to evoke excitement from the customer as there are definitely some very different not often-seen-before designs in this collection, that are different from the normal MESHKI aesthetic.

Looking back, what excited you most about being part of designing the MESHKI Atelier styles in The Nile collection?

Magenta: What excited me most is getting to watch such a pure creative such as Tarek weave his imagination into life. I have loved getting to work alongside Tarek but also our talented Indian suppliers to create some truly unique and awe inspiring pieces — the handcrafted skills that it takes to allow these designs to come to life leaves me in awe still!

The MESHKI Atelier pieces are a statement on timeless beauty — the result of collaboration between artisans, made for creating priceless memories that you’ll treasure for life.
