Empowerment is at the heart of all that we do at MESHKI, and we are committed to implementing the necessary policies and practices to ensure all parties involved in bringing the MESHKI pieces to life are part of a safe and empowering environment. We do this by partnering with suppliers and manufacturers who share our values and source materials safely and ethically, remaining ever-conscious of their social and environmental responsibilities.

We maintain this commitment with our internal CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) team working directly with industry partners, expert consultants and ethical sourcing software to consistently adapt our processes with the latest and best practices.
DESIGNED IN SYDNEY
Every MESHKI piece has been designed and developed with love in Sydney by our team of designers, garment technologist, buyers, planners and production specialists.

Every collection can take up to 6 months to develop, from mood board to delivery. This process includes initial sketches by designers, selection and development of fabrics, detailed cad drawings and tech packs, multiple rounds of sample fittings and approvals, and production and freight to our Distribution Centre.

Our thorough and long lead process of development ensures we are carefully curating collections that fit the needs, lifestyles and figures of our customers across the globe.

Our pieces are created in the highest quality fabrics and workmanship possible while maintaining the accessible price points that our customers know and love.
COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURING
MESHKI pieces are manufactured by carefully selected and examined suppliers based in China and India.

MESHKI values honesty and transparency in its partnerships with manufacturers and partners with suppliers that promote and maintain safe and fair working conditions. MESHKI’s partnership with manufacturers involves a thorough assessment of their practices, the successful passing of an Audit, and their compliance with our Code of Conduct and Supplier Agreements.
 
AUDITS

MESHKI’s preferred audit standard is SEDEX; SEDEX provides a reflection on the social & environmental standards being upheld in the factories producing MESHKI products. This audit standard also allows us to measure how reflective these standards are against our Code of Conduct and Supplier Agreement.

CONTEXT
MESHKI groups our suppliers among the following 4 tiers based on their position within the supply chain, in line with industry standards:

Tier 1 (CMT)
A Cut/ Make/ Trim supplier is the last stage of the production process; this is where the product comes together.

Tier 2 (Inputs)
Input suppliers are involved with practices such as dyeing, printing, washing, embroidery, accessories & hardware.

Tier 3 (Fabric)
Fabric suppliers are involved in making fabrics which include spinning, weaving and tend to be fabric mills.

Tier 4 (Raw Materials)
Raw Materials suppliers are the first stage of the supply chain as they either farm the raw material, produce it or are involved with the raw material at the factory level.

 

TRACEABILITY

Traceability is the ability to trace all processes from procurement of raw materials to production, consumption and disposal to clarify when and where the product was produced and by whom. While there is no way to ensure that 100% traceability has been achieved, we are committed to working on tracing our supply chain as far up as tier 4. So far, we have traced 100% of our tier 1 suppliers and are working towards increasing the traceability of the other tiers through the support of our lower tier suppliers, Ethical Sourcing Software & in house CSR team.

 

MANUFACTURED RESTRICTED SUBSTANCES LIST
(MRSL)
MESHKI is committed to the health and safety of all those within the supply chain who come in contact with MESHKI products. To achieve this, we have incorporated an MRSL into our supply chain to be honoured by our suppliers. MESHKI is also committed to testing select SKUs as an extreme measure to ensure supplier compliance with our MRSL within our supply chain.
CODE OF CONDUCT

MESHKI requires our suppliers to demonstrate their compliance with our Code of Conduct before starting a partnership. This ensures that the suppliers we partner with share and reflect MESHKI's values. The clauses within our Code of Conduct encapsulate the standards we expect ourselves & our suppliers to operate to. 100% of our tier 1 suppliers have signed our Code of Conduct, and we are committed to increasing the percentages among the other tiers of our suppliers. Additionally, to further implement our Code of Conduct among our suppliers' processes, it is included as a clause within our Supplier Agreement.


Our clauses & sub clauses include:

Environment - MESHKI expects our suppliers to work towards reducing our environmental impact during the manufacturing stages of our products while adhering to the expectations of our Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) at all times.

Human rights - At MESHKI, we believe the human rights of every person should be protected. We have a number of areas where we have implemented expectations to safeguard workers against any form of abuse including:  

  • Child labour - MESHKI aligned our expectations to protect against child labour with ILO conventions 138 and 182.

  • Discrimination/ Harrasment - MESHKI prohibit any form of discrimination or harrasment across any part of our business operations. Additionally, MESHKI supports gender equality in all workplaces in all touch points of the business.

  • Modern Slavery (including forced labour) - MESHKI is committed to the elimination of all forms of modern slavery across our business operations.

  • Pandemic protection - MESHKI expects all Suppliers and Factories used in the manufacture of Meshki products will provide a satisfactory level of cover and response to any local or global pandemic in the Country/Region of operation.

Workers rights - MESHKI expects all Suppliers, Factories and Sub-Contractors involved in the manufacture and supply of products to MESHKI to ensure they have implemented practices that respect and safeguard workers’ rights under local, national and international laws and regulations. These expectations also include the following specific requirements:

  • Labour rights - MESHKI expects all workers general labor rights to be protected and adhere to all legal requirements surrounding their employment.

  • Contracts - MESHKI expects that every worker must be provided with a written employment contract.

  • Freedom of Association - MESHKI expects all workers to have the right to Freedom of Association and the right to collective bargaining.

  • Grievance Mechanisms (Workers voice) - MESHKI expects that all workplaces must implement an impartial grievance and complaint mechanism for the employees to utilize.

  • Regular employment - MESHKI expects for all workers to have a right to regular employment and a regular working wage.
  •  

Working hours/ benefits - MESHKI expects that all Workers will be paid compensation for a regular work week that meets the legal minimum wage for the Country or Region of employment of the worker.

Safe working conditions - MESHKI will not compromise on our expectation that Suppliers and Factory owners/managers will expect all workplaces are safe and meet all local, national and international safety standards to safeguard workers at all times.

Traceability/ transparency - MESHKI expects suppliers to disclose their full supply chain when requested to support us in tracing our end-to-end supply chain across all stages of production. Additionally, suppliers must not subcontract without the approval of MESHKI.

Right to inspection - MESHKI reserves the right to visit or inspect all Suppliers offices and factories used in any stage of the manufacturing processes of our products to ensure compliance to the Code.

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS
We acknowledge that Corporate Social Responsibility is an ever-evolving journey. Our leaders across all aspects of the business are ever-conscious of the role they play in minimising our company’s environmental impact and increasing our positive impact on people. We do this by working closely with our internal Sustainability and CSR team to adopt innovative and emerging technologies and processes to bring about a more transparent MESHKI in the coming years.
